Residents in Dufferin County are being invited out to an event in May that aims to help lost children survive in the woods.
The Hug-a-Tree and Survive event will run on Sunday, May 5th at 1:30pm and is being held at the Grand Valley and District Fire Department.
Officials say hugging a tree can help children remain safe and be found.
They say staying near a tree offers some protection from the elements and keeps lost children in the same place, which makes it easier for searchers to find them.
The event will show kids how to not become lost in the woods and what they should do if they become lost.
A second day will be held as well on Saturday, May 25th at 1:00pm from the Museum of Dufferin.
