The Town of Grand Valley, and the surrounding area, has a new Fire Chief.
After nearly 45 years in public service, the Grand Valley & District Fire Department Chief Kevin McNeilly is retiring on January 10th, 2022.
In a news release, the Town says as Fire Chief, McNeilly has been committed to improving safety of the firefighters and the communities they serve.
They say he enhanced the Department’s resources with the purchase of new equipment, including a Tanker/Pumper, as well as an ATV with a trailer to enable water rescue, and purchased new auto extraction equipment (“Jaws of Life”).
There was also a new training facility built in 2015, and he is leaving behind a long-term plan to allow steady growth of the department.
Justin Foreman has taken over the position of new Fire Chief, effective on December 13th.
Foreman has been a Captain with the Orangeville Fire Department but is born and raised in Grand Valley and served on the local department as a volunteer early in his career.
