Over 600 charges were handed out by Dufferin OPP during a recent road safety campaign.
Police say Canada Road Safety Week ran from May 16th to the 22nd and ended with 615 charges handed out across 449 traffic stops.
They say the goal of the week is to increase compliance with safe driving measures in order to save lives.
A big focus of the campaign is to focus on behaviours that put drivers, passengers, pedestrians and other vulnerable road users at risk.
Of the tickets given out, 245 were for speeding and 7 were for stunt driving or racing.
There were 9 tickets each issued for seatbelt violations and distracted driving and 6 for impaired driving.
Meanwhile 3 tickets were handed out for careless driving and 2 for people driving while prohibited from doing so.
Authorities also listed 285 charges under “other offences.”
The OPP say so far this year 21 people have already lost their lives on roads they patrol in the Central Region.
