The Emergency Department at Headwaters Health Care Centre in Orangeville is showing some excellent results.
The Canadian Institute for Health Information reported that that Headwaters Emergency Department ranked 4th of 50 comparable Ontario hospitals in two categories.
The two key hospital performance indicators were Emergency Department Wait Times for Physician Initial Assessment, and Total Time Spent in Emergency Department for Admitted Patients.
President and CEO of Headwaters Health Centre Lisa Ruegg says they are extremely proud of the ER’s achievements in reducing wait times.
Headwaters average ED Wait Time for Physician Initial Assessment was 2 hours in 2014-15 — better than the 3-hour provincial and national averages.
Admitted patients at Headwaters spend an average of 11.2 hours in the Emergency Department — about one-third of the 30-hour average across Canada.
Ruegg says the patient flow work they’ve been doing, both internally and with community partners, is paying off in patient flow results that are among the best in the province.
