Peel and Toronto are now moving into the lockdown category or “Grey Zone”.
Premier Doug Ford made the announcement today releasing details on changes to the tiered framework for COVID-19 restrictions.
Starting Monday at 12:01 am, there will be the closure of gyms, recreation facilities, and hair salons and other personal care services in those areas.
All non-essential retail stores will be limited to only doing curbside pickup.
Grocery stores, convenience stores, pharmacies, beer and liquor stores, hardware and department stores will allow in-person shopping, but will be reduced to 50% capacity.
Bar and restaurants in those areas can provide takeout or delivery services, and schools and childcare centres will remain open.
There are already concerns with Peel Region being under lockdown, that people will flock to areas where things aren’t as restricted, like Orangeville.
Some locally owned restaurants have made the decision to implement a rule that they will check ID and will only be accepting patrons from a certain radius.
Simcoe Muskoka was moved into the “Orange-Restrict” zone, along with York Region, Halton, Hamilton, Huron, and Windsor-Essex.
Durham Region and Waterloo were moved into the “Red-Control” Zone.
