Nottawasaga OPP have charged one person following an attempted child abduction in New Tecumseth.
On July 31st, officers responded to a call about a person approaching a group of children operating a lemonade stand on 9th Line in Beeton. According to police, inappropriate comments and invitations were made toward the children.
The incident was reported, and the suspect was identified to police.
The suspect, a 61-year-old man from New Tec has been charged with three counts of enticing a child under the age of 14.
He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on August 6th.
Police are taking the opportunity to remind parents and caregivers to speak with children about personal safety and how to respond to uncomfortable or suspicious situations.
