No one was hurt in a house fire in Dundalk early this morning.
Dundalk firefighters were called to a report of a fire at a townhouse on Mackenzie Street just prior to 5:30 a.m. Friday morning. They arrived to find smoke and flames coming from a main floor window at the rear of the home.
Shelburne firefighters and Grey Bruce OPP also responded.
No one was home at the time of the fire.
Southgate Fire Chief Derek Malynyk says fire crews were able to quickly get the blaze under control and prevent it from spreading to neighbouring units.
Malynyk says damage was mostly contained to the floor of origin, but smoke spread throughout the home.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
“It is in the hands of the OPP currently,” Malynyk says.
