The Town of Mono has asked for a second submission for a planned subdivision in the town.
During its most recent meeting, council reviewed applications for a Zoning Bylaw Amendment and Plan of Subdivision.
It would include 349 residential lots and be built on 2nd Line EHS.
The Town’s Planning, Environment, and Natural Heritage Committee had previously reviewed the application in March.
After the review, the committee recommended to Council that it not grant either application as they are.
Officials cited concerns with traffic, water & sewage, lack of infrastructure including schools, and suitability of the location.
Residents who were at the meeting also expressed similar concerns which council agreed with.
Council also had other concerns including rezoning this lot would reduce the limited inventory of employment land available in Mono.
The proposed plan lacks key elements of a community and those living there would have to travel for work, amenities, and basic retail needs such as groceries.
And that traffic would be an issue as without a signalized intersection at 2nd Line and Highway 9, traffic would likely flow through other streets in the area to turn at the lights at 1st Line and Highway 9.
