The Town of Mono held its second meeting about a proposed townhouse development on Kingfisher.
Council had deferred making a decision at the first meeting about the development which was held back on May 25th.
At the time, council said there was a clause in the Watermark condominium agreement that concerned them.
That clause would prevent the community from making an objection or opposition to any development/application made by the developer.
Since that meeting, the developer has appealed the application to the Ontario Land Tribunal saying the decision has exceeded the time allowed in the Planning Act.
The appeal process means the OLT, instead of Town Council, will make the decision on the applications.
Residents and members of council have said in the past they’re concerned with a number of things around a new development.
Among those concerns are water supply levels, traffic & safety, school capacity, transit opportunities, density, and the affordability and attainability of the proposed housing.
Council also discussed how these lands are designated as commercial in the Official Plan and that there is very little vacant commercial land in Mono.
