A local owner of a Dairy Queen is being recognized as a top fundraiser.
John Lockyer, the owner of the DQ on Riddell Road in Orangeville has excelled in fundraising efforts and dedication to support local children’s hospitals.
Each year franchisees participate in events to raise money for their local children’s hospital to support sick kids and their families.
Lockyer and his location has been recognized by Dairy Queen Canada as the company’s Top East Fundraiser in 2020 – raising more than $46,000 in support of the Hospital for Sick Kids in Toronto.
In total he has raised more than $617,000 over the last 18 years for the cause.
Fundraising took place through a number of initiatives including the Round Up program, and Blizzard® October fund-raising week.
The company says that year after year John continues to be a tremendous leader for the Dairy Queen system and is a huge supporter of his local community, always challenging himself and his team to increase their fund-raising achievements.
