The Medical Officer of Health in our region is issuing an order to make sure we can safely move on to Phase 2 of reopening, which begins Friday June 12.
This week the Ontario government announced the area covered by Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health is one of the areas allowed to reopen some things.
Local health officials are issuing the order under Section 22 of the Health Protection and Promotion Act.
Dr. Nicola Mercer’s order requires all owners and operators of commercial establishments in the jurisdiction of the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Health Unit to prohibit people from coming in unless they are wearing a face covering.
The mask must be worn at all times while inside, and only children under the age of two will be exempt from the rule, or those who cannot safely wear one for medical reasons.
The businesses will have to ensure alcohol based hand sanitizer is available at the entrances and exits.
