Stella-Jones, a major North American lumber supplier has acquired a local Shelburne business.
The sale of Bluwood Canada/Shelburne Wood Protection at 309 Main Street West, is being called good news for the town, as they plan to grow in the community.
Gary Shuchat, Senior Director of Sales and Business Development with Stella-Jones tells Country 105 that they are thrilled to be coming to Shelburne, and will be increasing employment.
Shuchat says they are looking at hiring possibly 30 to 50 people over the next year or so, with production being taken over in July.
Stella-Jones is a publicly traded company with 2 billion in sales and 41 plants across North America.
They are the leading producer of wood transmission poles and railway ties, as well as lumber for decking and fencing.
