Today has been declared Congenital Heart Disorder Awareness Day in the Town of Shelburne.
Council made the declaration at Monday's council meeting.
Mayor Ken Bennington said this is something council does every year as a way to bring awareness to CHD.
Bennington and members of council met with 9-year old Tyson and 3 year old Penny, who both have gone through multiple procedures and open heart surgeries.
CHD is the world's number one birth defect affecting more than 1 in 100 babies in Canada and 1 in 70 in Ontario.
