Shelburne Parade in Jeopardy

Shelburne | by Jill Young
Heritage Music Festival Parade future is up in the air and needs new organizers to keep it going.

A popular long running festival, that's Shelburne's bread and butter, could see a big change.

Mayor Ken Bennington says the Heritage Music Festival Parade, could be in jeopardy.

For 30 plus years, the parade has been a huge part of the festival, formerly known as the Old Time Fiddle Championship, or Fiddlefest to locals.

The Kinsmen Club has been behind the parade, but they've been having dwindling numbers in club members and people who have been organizing the parade for so many years, are no longer in a position to take on the responsibility.

Bennington says "we owe a debt of gratitude to the members of the community that have dedicated so many years to running the parade".

Town council is hoping to recruit new volunteers or maybe another service club to take over the parade organization.
