UPDATE: Massive Fire at Wood Plant

Shelburne | by Jill Young
Shelburne Fire Department Members continue to work on hotspots Friday morning.

It's been a really tough night and day for the Shelburne Fire Department.

Crews are still on scene of a massive blaze that started in a wood products plant on Main Street West around 5 Thursday.

Fire Chief Brad Lemaich says the buildings at I-K World Trading had a lot of wood inventory in them, and that just added fuel to the flames.

He says the fire was very hot and fast moving.

Lemaich says they got help from Orangeville, Grand Valley, Honeywood and Dundalk, and the additional firefighters were released from the scene around 1 am.

Heavy machinery was brought in this morning to make it easier to reach the hotspots.

Fire officials say the Ontario Fire Marshal's Office was contacted but won't be coming to the scene.

No cause has been determined, but Lemaich is calling it a 'significant loss' for the owner.
