Orangeville's Police Chief is asking for a review of all sexual assault cases that haven't been solved in the past five years.

Chief Wayne Kalinski's request follows a report in the Globe and Mail, that criticizes police services across Canada that has various sexual assault investigations that end up being classified as "unfounded".

Kalinski says they want to assure victims of crime are taken seriously when they report such a crime.

He says they police will ensure the incidents are investigated fully and in a professional manner.

The review will be conducted on sexual assault cases classified as unfounded over the past five years, with the results given to the Chief and then they'll be made public.
