Steelheads Take Out Colts
Moverare with 3 points as Central Division leaders hand Barrie their 9th straight loss.
A better start for the Barrie Colts but it ended with the same result.
The Mississauga Steelheads overcame a 4-1 deficit with 5 straight goals on their way to beating the Colts by a score of 7-5 in OHL action on Thursday night.
It was the 9th loss in a row for the Colts.
The Colts opened up a 3-0 lead on first period goals by Ben Hawerchuk and Lucas Chiodo, and an early second period goal by Jason Smith.
Barrie would go up 4-1 in the second period before Owen Tippett and Michael McLeod scored for Mississauga to cut the Colts lead to 4-3.
After Jacob Moverare tied it up for the Steelheads in the third period, Ryan McLeod gave Mississauga their first lead of the game on a strange goal.
His shot from centre bounced off the back boards and off the back of the skate of goaltender David Ovsjannikov and in for a 5-4 Steelheads lead.
Moverare finished with a goal and 2 assists while Michael McLeod and Spencer Watson each had a goal and an assist for the Steelheads (23-17-6-5).
Jacob Ingram relieved starter Matthew Mancina (9 saves) after Barrie's third goal and stopped 12 shots and contributed with 2 assists.
Smith finished with 3 points while Ovsjannikov made 29 saves for the Colts (13-31-6-1).
Power plays saw Barrie go 0-for-4, Mississauga went 1-for-5.
The next game for the Colts is Friday night when they travel to St. Catharine's to take on the Niagara Ice Dogs.
