County Communications Setup Idea Flops

Shelburne | by Phil DeLand
Dufferin County was willing to fund 50 per cent of the project, if the other 8 municipalities picked up the rest.

The idea of an inter-operable communications setup for Dufferin County appears to be "dead."

Mayor Wade Mills provided that update at last night's Shelburne Town Council meeting.

Mills said Dufferin County was willing to fund 50 per cent of the project, if the other 8 municipalities picked up the rest.

He said Mono and Melancthon opted out - which he says essentially ends the idea.

The plan was to create a communications network that would allow certain levels to communicate with each other, such as local fire departments being able to communicate with public works.
