New Beds for Headwaters

Orangeville | by Phil DeLand
Headwaters Health Care Centre continues to move towards total bed replacements.

It was "Christmas in July" for the staff of Headwaters Health Care Centre.

The hospital recently received 22 news, modern bed frames and mattresses.

The replacements are part of the hospital's ten year bed replacement plan.

Officials thank the community for the donations of the beds which they say will help patients through supportive and therapeutic healing.

Since the Ontario government doesn't provide funding for hospital equipment, the beds were purchased through community donations from Headwaters Health Care Foundation.

Joan Burdette, Foundation Director, said "our community is incredibly supportive of their local hospital and we are very pleased to have been able to fund these much needed pieces of equipment."

The units were fully assembled, tested for quality, tagged with identification labels, disinfected and deployed to the Medical, Surgical, and Obstetrical units.

Officials say most beds have a life span of 10 years although some of the ones being replaced were much older.
